The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) http://www.shrm.org/ is the world's largest association devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 190,000 individual members, the Society's mission is to serve the needs of HR professionals by providing the most essential and comprehensive resources available. As an influential voice, the Society's mission is also to advance the human resource profession to ensure that HR is recognized as an essential partner in developing and executing organizational strategy. Founded in 1948, SHRM currently has more than 500 affiliated chapters within the United States and members in more than 100 countries.

Our current local professional SHRM chapters within Arizona include: East Valley Human Resource Association (EVHRA), Valley of the Sun Human Resource Association (VSHRA), Employment Management Association for Greater Phoenix, Central Arizona HR Management Association, Northern Arizona HR Association, Prescott Area Human Resource Association, SHRM of Greater Tucson, Southern Arizona Human Resource Association, and the Senior HR Executive Council (SREC). Our local SHRM professional chapters are all under the direction and leadership of the Arizona SHRM State Council.
The Society for Human Resource Management's Student Program was created in 1965 to promote mutually beneficial interaction between HRM students and practitioners. Since the first chapter was chartered nearly 40 years ago, the student program has experienced tremendous growth. The program now includes over 400 affiliated student chapters and nearly 10,000 student members. Our current local student SHRM chapters in Arizona include: Ottawa University, Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, and the Garvin School of International Management-Thunderbird University.

The mission of the Ottawa University Student Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (OUSHRM) is to support and encourage relationship building and network development between Ottawa University human resource management students and the human resource professional community. As a result, Ottawa University HRM students attain exposure and introduction to human resource professionals from every level of management in nearly every conceivable industry. We are also equally and proactively devoted to the continuous education about the unique world of the human resource profession by way of professional and career mentoring, academic and scholastic excellence, guest speakers, and professional association.
