Pelton came to Ottawa University in 1969 from Maine. He played baseball and majored in biology before graduating in 1973. He has multiple real estate and retail businesses in Ottawa. He and his wife, Hope, a missionary daughter from India who also graduated from OU, are generous benefactors of the University. They are active in the First Baptist Church of Ottawa and frequently travel to Canada and Alaska. They have a home in Florida, as well as Ottawa.
Duderstadt graduated from Ottawa University in 1979 and has additional professional education from the University of Wisconsin’s Bank Administration Institute and the Graduate School of Banking in Chicago, Illinois. He served as vice president for administration at OU from 2001-2006. Currently the senior vice president and CFO of Peoples National Bank, Duderstadt is responsible for all financial management components of the bank and mortgage company. Duderstadt previously served on the Ottawa University Board of Trustees for more than 20 years and says he is most looking forward to rejoining the board to continue strengthening the University. He and his wife, Cathy, reside in Ottawa.
“It has been 10 years since I’ve been on the Board, but I have continued to feel connected to Ottawa University, as my two children are graduates and I have served on the President’s Council,” says Duderstadt. “The Board is filled with caring people with great leadership and a strong desire to serve the continually changing needs of a broad base of students. There is a great sense of momentum and pride for what is happening today, coupled with a compelling vision for the future.”
Hasty is president of Hasty Awards, a national supplier of youth awards and one of the Ottawa area’s major employers. Within the community, he has previously served as a member of the Ottawa Rotary Club, Ottawa Swim Club and the Ottawa Recreation Commission. He and his wife, Anne Maxwell Hasty, have three sons. Their eldest son, Austin, is a student at OU and is manager of the men’s basketball team. The family resides in Ottawa.
“I joined the Board of Trustees because I believe in Ottawa as a community. In that same vein, I feel that Ottawa University, at the core, is what will make Ottawa’s future brighter,” said Hasty. “With the vision that President Kevin Eichner has presented, the success is two-fold for both the University and the community. Being asked to join the board was an opportunity I could not pass up, and I feel fortunate to be a part of such an exciting journey.”
Lee is director of planning and codes administration for the City of Ottawa. She graduated summa cum laude with a business administration degree from Ottawa University in 1989. She has been involved with the Ottawa Rotary Club for nearly 10 years. Active in the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce, Lee is a recipient of the Russell Crites Award for her service to the community. She currently serves on the Staff Relations Committee at the First Baptist Church of Ottawa and is a founding board member of Franklin County Habitat for Humanity, which created the Wynndee Lee Excellence in Leadership Award in her honor. Lee has been a member of the Ottawa University Board of Trustees since 1999, serving on various committees and in numerous capacities over the years, including the Executive Committee, the Diversity Taskforce, co-chair of the Presidential Search Committee, and president of the Alumni Board. Lee recently was awarded the Distinguished Service Award during the annual Ottawa University Annual Alumni Awards Banquet. She is the daughter of William Shipp ’65 and Claudia Shipp ’66. Her brother, Thomas Shipp, graduated from Ottawa University in 1992. Lee and her husband, David, have two daughters, Kelsey, 22, and Samantha, 14.
