Credit may be awarded through any of the following:
Prior higher educational experiences
You earned those credits – we’ll accept them. Transfer up to 80 credits toward your Ottawa University degree. All courses completed successfully at regionally accredited institutions of higher education are accepted at face value. Semester credit hours are not transferred for participation in varsity sports, remedial or developmental courses.
Your professional development and training may be eligible for college credit. Credit is awarded in conjunction with the American Council of Education (ACE) guide. Please present proof of successful completion for evaluation.
Credit by Examination such as CLEP, AP and DSST (formerly DANTES)
Semester credits are awarded for the successful completion of examinations from approved national testing programs, including Advanced Placement (AP), Berlitz, College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), Excelsior, DSST (formerly DANTES), Regents, and International Baccalaureate (IB). Semester credit awards are based on recommendations of the American Council of Education (ACE), wherever applicable.
Licensure or Certification in selected areas
Ottawa University will award college credit for specific vocational certifications in accordance with the American Council on Education guidelines.
Ottawa University directly transfers all associate and baccalaureate military credit evaluated by the American Council on Education (ACE) as defined in the Guide to Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Forces. Please provide original documentation to the Registrar.
