Master of Arts in Human Resources: Substance Abuse Counseling

Help others overcome addiction as a substance abuse counselor. In this counseling degree concentration, you will start with foundational course work in group counseling and counseling dynamics. From there, you will study the psychophysiology and pharmacology of addictions, as well as prevention, assessment and treatment of addictions. Course curriculum for our Substance Abuse Counseling degree concentration includes examining theories of personality development and therapeutic processes; patterns, causes, assessment and treatment of substance abuse and other addictive disorders; biopsychosocial components of addiction, such as risk factors, physiology of cravings, withdrawal and detox; and more.

Students within this counseling degree concentration are selected, advised and supervised through the counseling graduate program.
