Early Childhood

The early childhood concentration is designed to meet the new Arizona State requirements that all teachers must be highly qualified in early childhood if they are going to teach students birth through eight years old.

Concentration Courses
21 semester credit hours, plus 8 hours of a practicum

  • ECC 7010  Child Growth and Development (3 cr hrs)
  • ECC 7020  Child Guidance and Classroom Management (3 cr hrs)
  • ECC 7030  Child and Family Cultural and Community Relations (3 cr hrs)
  • ECC 7040  Early Childhood Development and Math/Science Methods (3 cr hrs)
  • ECC 7050  Early Childhood Development and Methods, Language, Literacy, Reading, Social Studies and the Arts (3 cr hrs)
  • ECC 7060  Quality Practices for Typical and Atypical Behaviors of Young Children (3 cr hrs)
  • HRC 7000  Statistics Workshop (no credit)
  • EDC 8563  Student Teaching Action Research
  • EDC 8564  Student Teaching Action Research 12 weeks/full time/no pay
