150 students participated in Alternative Break service projects over the two days of fall break, completing more than 700 hours of service in the Ottawa community. Partnering with Habitat for Humanity, two houses in dire need of work were scraped and painted and another house painted. Other projects included painting and cleaning at Hope House, as well as sorting clothes and bedding that had been donated. Students also provided maintenance and animal care at Prairie Paws animal shelter and worked on a project for the afterschool program with Communities in Schools. The OU Alumni Association
hosted a refreshment tent at one of the Habitat sites.
