Janet Peters Promoted

Peters has served as OU’s director of planned giving since 2006. Prior to joining the Ottawa University advancement team, she held the position of vice president and manager of trust operations at Peoples Bank in Ottawa for 17 years. In her expanded role, Peters is responsible for leading development and alumni efforts, assisting the vice president of university advancement with setting and achieving annual and long-term strategic goals, as well as management and supervision of the University’s advancement staff. She continues to manage the University’s endowed scholarship program and lead OU’s planned giving program to attract new gifts to the University through such vehicles as estate gifts, annuities and various trusts. Peters is actively involved in the Ottawa community, serving on the Ransom Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, as chairperson of the Ottawa Police Foundation Board, on the Ottawa Franklin County Economic Development Board of Directors, and as vice president of the OHS Booster Club. An active member of the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce, Peters served as chairperson in 2001 and was a Leadership Trustee for four years. Most recently, she assisted OU President Kevin C. Eichner as he facilitated the Chamber’s long-term strategic planning efforts.
