Dr. William C. Towns worked for the University of Kansas (KU) in different capacities over the past 32 years. He was the operations manager for the KU Memorial Unions from 1980 until 2002. While working as such, Towns pursued a master’s and completed the degree in 1995. He received his PhD in Foundations of Education from the University of Kansas in 2005. Towns’ research interests include the implications of social capital to students living in poverty and the influence of philosophical and ideological perspectives on education. He spent the last seven years for the Center for Research on Learning at the University of Kansas (KU-CRL) as the project coordinator for a GEARUP grant in the Topeka, Kansas, #501 School District.
