The Concert Choir

Concert Choir, founded in 1938, is Ottawa University’s premiere choral ensemble. Its membership is determined by audition and is open to all students. Concert Choir’s history of excellence in choral music calls upon its singers to maintain high levels of individual musicianship and ensemble skills as they perform music spanning the history of all choral traditions. Concert Choir is the major choral ensemble called upon to sing for official University events and to appear on behalf of the University beyond the campus. It performs frequently in area churches, in on-campus concerts, and tours annually during the spring semester, both nationally and internationally.

The Jazz Singers

Jazz Singers is a select group of 12-16 voices with high expectations of commitment and singing skills. Although its primary focus is on the performance of standard and contemporary jazz repertoire, the ensemble also maintains a multi-functional identify by performing works of other choral styles as well. It performs in area churches, schools, and in on-campus concerts. Membership in Jazz Singers is by audition and is open only to members of Concert Choir.

The Chapel Choir

Chapel Choir is a non-auditioned choral ensemble open to any University student. It specializes in the development of proper voice and choral tecnhique for inexperienced singers, with specific emphasis on proper breathing, diction, tone, and music reading skills. It performs once or twice each semester in campus concerts. Chapel Choir performs repertoire from the history of all choral traditions.

The University Ringers

University Ringers is an English handbell ensemble of 10-12 players open by audition to any University student. Participation in the ensemble provides opportunities to learn and refine ringing technique and style. It specializes in the performance of standard handbell repertoire. Performances are in campus concerts and by invitation for off-campus events.
