Ellen O’Hayer is a Lawrence, Kansas-based cellist with a diverse performance background. She is Principal Cellist of the Topeka Symphony, and a regular substitute with the Kansas City Symphony. O'Hayer has held positions with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Elmhurst Symphony, and the Quad City Symphony. In 2010, she founded The Oread Strings, a Lawrence-based string quartet that performs for weddings and events. As part of an on-board string quartet, O'Hayer has performed aboard Holland America Line cruise ships sailing throughout Alaska and the Caribbean. In addition to her classical performing, she has extensive experience in pop music, having toured internationally with acts including Bright Eyes and Brian Wilson. O'Hayer is also a member of the Kansas City-based band The Latenight Callers. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance from DePaul University in Chicago.
