Make a difference in the classroom...
and in the lives of your students.
With a degree in education, you can inspire, open minds and change lives. At Ottawa University, we provide the knowledge and skills you need. School administrators say our education graduates “interview well, can clearly articulate their knowledge and abilities, are technology savvy, and have strong leadership skills.”
At Ottawa University, you benefit from our partnerships with local schools. Our students are observing and student teaching in outside classrooms sooner than education students at other colleges and universities. Take part in programs like Teachin’ Tots, Youth Friends and more.
Bachelor of Arts in Art: PreK-12 Licensure
You will study art as a means of visual communication. Explore different media and techniques while developing your own talents in drawing, painting, design, sculpture, and other varied crafts. Courses will foster your individual creativity and cultural identity, as well as promote sensitivity, self-exploration, creativity, and multicultural awareness. Study the aesthetic, psychological, anthropological, historical, religious, social, and commercial significance of different works of art.
The education licensure program is designed to produce teachers who have the knowledge, social competencies, methods, communication skills, and sensitivity to be effective in the school environment. You will gain hands-on, in-classroom experiences. Prospective teachers learn how to identify and be sensitive to the unique needs, challenges and learning styles of diverse student populations.
The licensure program is based on state, regional, and national licensure criteria and testing competencies. The Ottawa University teacher education programs are state approved in Kansas and accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
