Adawe LifePlan Center

Every new student at OU is provided with a personal Adawe LifePlan Center advisor who assists the student from enrollment through graduation. Advisors continually collaborate with the student to craft an individualized, holistic undergraduate experience that helps them develop in four key areas:

  • designing a balanced life (time management, self-assessment, campus involvement, relationships with others);
  •  seeking academic, creative and intellectual growth (study habits, writing abilities, self-expression, critical thinking);
  •  establishing an identity as a global citizen (diversity and inclusivity, consciousness of history and cultures);
  • forging a vision for the future (integrated philosophies of life, career and personal goals, ethical decision-making).

Students also work with the Adawe staff to prepare for meaningful careers in a contemporary world. With an advisor’s guidance, they develop career portfolios, conduct career and personal assessments, and participate in a wide range of experiential learning opportunities, such as internships, study abroad, and job-shadowing.

The Adawe LifePlan Center also offers individualized and group tutoring sessions across the curriculum, as well as support to students involved in writing and research projects. Peer and professional mentors work with students to encourage personal growth and academic focus.

By providing these holistic resources and services, the Adawe LifePlan Center helps students develop the consciousness, values, practices, and competencies that will sustain them while at Ottawa University and throughout their lifetimes.
