What Are You Doing While You Are Waiting?

“Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart; wait I say on the Lord.” Psalms 27:14 KJV

We wait in line for many things: a light to change when driving, our number to be called for service, an appointment or maybe to be seated for a reservation.  I understand how frustrating this can be, but my question to you is: what are you doing while you are waiting? Are you wasting your time murmuring and complaining about the wait or are you redeeming the time by using it as an opportunity, a tool to pray?

Just because you are confined in a given locale does not mean you are spiritually on hold. One of our goals should be to grow closer to God and one of the ways to achieve this is through prayer, talking to God. We should use every opportunity we are given to grow in our relationship with God. Prayer is a dialogue not a monologue. God wants to be in relation with each of us; John 10:27-29 says,  “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me, I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand, and another they will not follow.”

Are you close enough to God to know His voice? Do you follow what He tells you to do? Or do you second guess everything wondering if this is really God? Our goal should be, to be as close to God as possible, as a baby who knows his/her mother’s or father’s voice. We are God’s children, therefore, we should know our parent’s voice, don’t you think? And if we know His voice, we should find solace in whatever situation we find ourselves, knowing we are never alone and that all things work together for our good, Romans 8:28. So, I have good news for you, you don’t have to carry any burden because  1 Peter 5:7 tells us to cast all our cares on God because God cares for us.

Now, as you go about your daily routine, enjoy the journey called life and use every opportunity given to you to grow closer to your Father, and one of the ways of doing this is through prayer.

Prayer
Lord God, we come to you thanking you for being our God. Thanking you for how much you love us and how you’ve shown your love for us by your sending us your only begotten son, Jesus, to be our redeemer and bring us back into right relation with you. Help us not to waste our time grumbling and complaining but to redeem the time you have given us and use every opportunity to grow closer to you. In Jesus’s name we pray. Amen.
