OUTheatre Announces New Season, New Pricing

OTTAWA, Kansas - Ottawa University is pleased to announce its new spring theatre season featuring two new shows to be performed in its Larry Peters Auditorium.

On March 23-25, 2007, OUTheatre will present Jack Heifner's "Vanities" directed by Jeanne Chinn, theatre director at OU.  "Vanities" tells the story of three Texas high school cheerleaders who come of age in the 1960s.  This is Chinn's second time to direct the play.  The first was in 2004 at Terrance McKerrs Theatre Pub in Topeka, Kansas, where the production was enthusiastically reviewed in local papers.

A musical titled "Broadway Plays OU" will be the featured show on April 12-15, 2007, and will be directed by guest artist Terrance McKerrs from Topeka, Kansas.  McKerrs has staged and produced in Las Vegas, New York, Florida, and many places in between. Musical direction will be provided by Mary Baker of Baldwin City, Kansas.  Baker does musical direction for adults and children in St. Louis, Missouri, and Topeka and Lawrence, Kansas.  Chinn, McKerrs and Baker have worked together in the past and are "thrilled to be working together again," according to Chinn.

The musical will feature some of Broadway's best-loved tunes and will be choreographed by McKerrs.  Auditions for the musical are open to the public and will be held at the Larry Peters Auditorium on March 4 and 5 at 7:00 p.m.

Ticket prices for the public have recently been dropped to $5.00 for the productions.  "We want theatre at OU to be affordable for everyone," said Chinn.  OU faculty, staff, and students will continue to receive free admission, as will Baker University students and employees.  Show times for each performance are 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and a matinee at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
