Speakers to Share "Adventures in Faith" at Ottawa University

OTTAWA, Kansas - During a series of sessions on February 6-8, 2007, professionals and Ottawa University alumni from a wide variety of careers will speak to students, faculty and the public about the experiences they've had interfacing their faith with their vocations.

Confirmed speakers and guests for the Adventures in Faith series include local educator and musician Alan Cunningham; lawyer and OU board trustee Lucky DeFries; National Director of Sales for WHB Radio 810 and board trustee Gary Hailes; Product Procurement Manager for Hallmark Global Services, Inc. and board trustee Joel Ma and wife Mila; Reverend James and Dottie McCrossen; and former NFL player and State Director for the South Dakota Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Brian Hansen.

The first event of the series will take place on Tuesday evening, February 6, from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. in the meditation chapel located in the OU Chapel annex.  During this session, speakers and their spouses will visit with just-married or soon-to-be married couples from The College and community, answering questions and providing advice.  There will be a breakout session for any couples desiring to go into Christian ministry.

Also at 7:30 on Tuesday evening will be an FCA meeting with Brian Hansen in the Beige Room of the OU Mowbray Union.  This meeting is for OU or community FCA members, as well as those interested in the organization.

On Wednesday, the featured speakers will spend the day visiting classrooms across campus to share their "Adventures in Faith" with students.  They will discuss the pro's and con's of their professions and relay how faith has played a role in their careers.  On Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m., the presenters will come together to speak to members of the student organization Christian Faith in Action.

Adventures in Faith will wrap up on Thursday morning with the 11:00 a.m. chapel service.  The speakers will lead the service and talk about what they have learned from the Adventures in Faith experience.
