New Ottawa University President is Welcomed to OU's Arizona Campuses and Area Community

PHOENIX, Arizona - On February 15, 2007, Dr. Fredrick Snow, new president of Ottawa University, was welcomed by OU's Arizona campus faculty, staff and students as well as members of Phoenix, Mesa and Tempe communities.  The event had more than 106 participants, all of whom had a chance to meet and talk with Dr. Snow.

"On behalf of our faculty, we look forward to sharing in (Dr. Snow's) vision for the future and the continued success of Ottawa University," stated Dr. June Wiley, dean of instruction for OU's Arizona campuses, who spoke at the event.

Other speakers included Dr. M. Donna Levene, campus executive officer; Mr. Jack Lundsford, President & CEO of WESTMARC (Western Maricopa Coalition); Mr. F. Rockne Arnett, President & CEO of East Valley Partnership; Ms. Patricia B. Wolf, Chair of the Board of Trustees; Rev. Roger L. Fredrikson, Life Member of the Board of Trustees; and of course, Dr. Snow himself.

In response to the urging of speakers Lundsford and Arnett regarding the need for adult education in the valley, Dr. Snow reminisced in the fact that OU's Arizona campus was one of the pioneers of adult education in the valley, opening in 1977.  "The valley is very competitive in adult education and we're proud to have been a part of that infrastructure.  The market is competitive, and we look to be competitive as well," he said.

He continued, "We are in the process of reorganizing our thoughts and during this process, students will continue to have a rich and rigorous academic experience.  I am happy and proud to be a part of the Ottawa University family and will move strong into the future with the support of faculty, staff, trustees, and the communities where our campuses reside."
