Ottawa University Offers Scholarships to Franklin County Communities

OTTAWA, Kansas - Ottawa University's Office of University Advancement has kicked off the annual Franklin County Campaign, a campaign focused on building relationships between the community and the University by offering scholarships to Franklin County residents.

Ottawa University is offering three new Franklin County scholarships and has increased the average Franklin County Scholarship, which every Franklin County student receives for the upcoming academic year.  Currently, there are 49 students from Franklin County attending OU, and the total amount of scholarships awarded to these students each year exceeds $140,000.

In order to continue this campaign, OU needs your help.  Our fundraising goal is $30,000 at the conclusion of the campaign on June 30, 2007.  Ottawa University has been in the Franklin County community for 142 years and more than 600 current residents of Franklin County are alumni of OU.  OU provides more than 110 jobs to individuals in the Franklin County community.

Whether you are a friend, graduate or local business, Ottawa University is grateful for all that you do for its students and the Franklin County community.  We would also like to ask the business community to open their doors to our students who are looking for
part-time jobs or internship opportunities.

Businesses and residents interested in making donations may do so by contacting the Office of University Advancement at 785-242-5520.  In recognition of your gift, your business name will be listed in the Ottawa University Annual Report and included in an advertisement in Franklin County newspapers.

OU's Franklin County Campaign cabinet members include, Jayne Altic, Gary Bateman, Scott Bird, Bryant and Sara Currier, Cindy Dengel, Wayne and Cathy Duderstadt, Jim and Doris Grogan, Brenda Guenther, Melanie Herken-Johnson, Bob Hill, Richard Jackson, Jay Kahnt, Wynndee Lee, Amanda Paul, Eldon and Edith Rader, Susan Webb, Lori Brockus, Susie Jacob, Deb Henningsen, Dale Dieterich, Blake Jorgensen, Kent Kessinger, Charlene Lister, and Bob Player.
