Ottawa University Hosts Southwest Central Region Student Conference and HR Games

PHOENIX, Arizona - The Southwest Central Regional Student Conference and HR Games competition will be held March 23-24, 2007 in Phoenix, Arizona at Ottawa University's Tempe campus located at 10429 South 51st Street on the northwest corner of I10 and Elliott Road.

HR Games is an event for Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) student chapters designed to foster friendly competition between universities.  It provides a positive and exciting way to prepare students for the human resource profession and the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification exam conducted by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).  Using a "Jeopardy" style format, teams of up to three students from each school compete over several rounds to reach the finals.

Winning teams from the entire Southwest Central Region (Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah) have earned the right to compete at this regional competition.  Our regional winners will be awarded scholarships and a paid trip to the SHRM Annual Conference, June 23-27, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The SWC Student Conference is open to all undergraduate and graduate students pursuing studies in Human Resources and Business Leadership.  This will be a great opportunity for students to network and learn more about the HR profession, while being empowered to be our future leaders.  Keynote speakers, such as Aaron Matos, CEO & Founder of Jobing.com, will inform, inspire and entertain participants, while breakout sessions will teach skills vital to an HR career.

The conference begins on Friday at Ottawa University's Tempe campus with a welcoming ceremony and the opening rounds of HR Games continuing with a fun-filled conference.

We invite all students not participating in the competition to join us as a guest or volunteer, along with business professionals who would like to attend this exciting event.  Please visit http://www.azshrm.org/ for more information.
