"Vanities" Opens at OU March 23
OTTAWA, Kansas - On March 23 - 25, 2007, you'll have the opportunity to step back into the 1960's and see those innocent (or not so innocent!) days played out again in the OUTheatre production of "Vanities", by Jack Heifner. Directed by OUTheatre director Jeanne Chinn, "Vanities" tells the funny and touching story of three Texas high school cheerleaders who come of age during the 60's era. This is Chinn's second time to direct the play. The first was in 2004 at Terrance McKerrs Theatre Pub in Topeka, Kansas, where the production was enthusiastically reviewed in local papers.
Playing the role of Mary will be freshman Emily Loughary; Kathy will be portrayed by freshman Brandi Dority; and Joanne will be played by junior Emily Bryan.
Ticket prices for the public have recently been dropped to $5.00. "We want theatre at OU to be affordable for everyone," said Chinn. OU faculty, staff, and students will continue to receive free admission, as will Baker University students and employees. Show times for each performance are 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and a matinee at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
