OUTheatre Holds Awards Banquet

OTTAWA, Kansas -   Sunday, April 29th, 40 members and friends of OUTheatre held a formal awards banquet at the Crystal Plaza banquet room, appropriately called "The Stage."  Provost and Vice President Dennis Tyner emceed the event. 

Students and guests were treated to a fine buffet, a specially designed OUTheatre t-shirt, pictures from the past four shows, and much laughter.  Many of the adult mentors, theatre staff, and students took turns presenting awards and telling their tales of the past year.

Judges for the awards were comprised of faculty, staff, and community members.  Recipients included:

Best Production of the Season:  "Taking Leave"

Best Actress:  Emily Bryan (junior) for "Vanities"

Best Supporting Actress:  Jennifer Diller (senior) for "Taking Leave" and "Broadway Plays OU"

Best Actor:  Douglas Crawshaw (sophomore) for "Broadway Plays OU"

In addition, the students voted on the following awards:

Mentor of the Year:  Ron Chinn

Most Improved Actor:  Brandi Dority (freshman)

The Theatre staff presented:

Director's Award-Student of the Year:  Jessica Ward (freshman)

Student of the Month:  Chelsiegh Cobb (freshman)

Tiger Award:  Tyler Long (freshman)

Robyn Bowman/Kansas State Bank, the sponsor for OUTheatre's season, presented special gifts to the past three students of the month.
