Advances in OU Advancement

University Adds Two Leaders to Its Team

OTTAWA, Kansas - Ottawa University is pleased to announce the addition of Roseanne B. Becker and Lanette Stineman to its Office of University Advancement team.

Roseanne B. Becker, CFRE has been hired as vice president for University advancement, a University-wide position encompassing OU's six national adult and professional studies (APS) campuses, as well as its residential campus in Ottawa, Kansas.  Her executive level experience includes leading development functions for six private colleges/universities and directing comprehensive campaigns ranging from $200 to $350 million.  Becker's work with community leaders, board members, alumni, deans, and faculty has allowed her to successfully raise multi-million dollar gifts in planned giving, corporation/foundation relations, special project campaigns, and comprehensive capital gains.  She has successfully solicited multi-million dollar contributions from such well-known companies as Kellogg Corporation, Dow Chemical, Kiewit Foundation, and Kresge Foundation, as well as from individuals.

Becker previously served Ottawa University as vice president for University relations from 1995-1998, during which she completed groundwork for the Touch the Future Campaign.  Becker is a 1998 Ottawa University Kansas City graduate with a Master of Arts in Human Resources.  "I am delighted to be back.  Ottawa University has such a bright future and I am happy to be part of President Snow's new team.  I am also looking forward to rekindling relationships with many of the OU alumni," said Becker.

Recognizing the expertise Becker brings to the position, OU President Dr. Fred Snow said, "Roseanne's professionalism is exceeded only by her energy."

Lanette Stineman will serve as director of advancement at OU's Kansas City campus.  Stineman brings years of fundraising experience to the position, most recently as foundation director and primary fundraiser for CREW Foundation, the philanthropic arm of CREW Network, an international networking group of professionals in the commercial real estate industry.  In the position, she was instrumental in the awarding of $600,000 in grants, as well as in securing and increasing corporate sponsorship to $230,000, in 2007 for an education program piloted by the Foundation.

Prior to that, Stineman was the development officer for Olympic sports at the KU Endowment Association, where she organized, implemented and directed a comprehensive development program for raising private gifts in support of KU athletics.  During her tenure, she was instrumental in the KU First: Invest in Excellence capital campaign, which generated more than $97 million in private support for 32 construction projects for the University of Kansas, including a $750,000 estate gift to benefit the track and field program.

Stineman is familiar with Ottawa University, its mission and heritage, having previously served as the University's director of admissions on its residential campus.  Campus Executive Officer Ted Collins said of Stineman, "We are very excited to have Lanette joining us and look forward to her work with our alumni association and local businesses to promote OUKC, so that everyone else out there can discover just how great we are!"

Founded in 1865, Ottawa University is a comprehensive, not-for-profit educational institution affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA.
