Cook-Off to Aid Lymes' Support Group
OTTAWA, Kansas - In an effort to raise money for the local Lyme Disease Support Group, several Ottawa University seniors are sponsoring a crock-pot cook-off as part of their Senior Core project. The cook-off is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2007, at First Baptist Church's Elliot Hall, 410 S. Hickory, Ottawa.
The crock-pot cook-off will be divided into three categories: soup, stew and chili. Anyone wishing to enter the cook-off should contact Stacy Dryden at 785-418-6333 or stacy.dryden@student.ottawa.edu by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28. All entries should be either a soup, a stew or chili and should be prepared/submitted in a crock-pot. Those attending the cook-off will vote on the dishes, with the winners in each category receiving a crock-pot cookbook.
Tickets for the dinner are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. Tickets can be purchased at the Potter's Wheel Coffee House, 205 S. Main; at Paper Haven, 127 S. Main; or at the door. Proceeds from the event will help pay the $750 fee to establish the local Lyme Disease Support Group as a non-profit organization so it can receive tax-free donations in the future.
Members of the OU Lyme Disease Senior Core Group are Rose Anne Chilson, Stacy Dryden, Bryant Derley, and Meghan Haggard.
