Faculty Position Description

Position Title: Undergraduate Faculty/Advisor Position
Unit and Location: APS; Phoenix, AZ
Reports to: Campus Dean of Instruction


Job Summary

Responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in the liberal arts sequence, advising students working towards completion of BA degree, including advising associated with initial liberal arts course, Proseminar, and final liberal arts course, Graduation Review. Responsibilities also include recruiting and advising prospective students, participating on committees and involvement with community outreach.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate classes in the liberal arts sequence. Recruit and advise prospective students interested in enrollment in the undergraduate programs at Ottawa University. Create Education Plan in conjunction with the LAS 30013, Proseminar. Provide student advisement for undergraduates. Prepare students for graduation in the LAS 45104, Graduation Review course. 
  • Teach undergraduate courses in the liberal arts sequence during the academic term.
  • Hold scheduled daily office hours during hours of operation for advisement of current and prospective students.
  • Interview, advise and recruit prospective students interested in educational opportunities at Ottawa University.
  • Serve as a member on discipline-specific committee.
  • Attend undergraduate Academic Committee and plenary faculty meetings.
  • Participate in community meetings and activities related to the undergraduate programs.
  • Promote the undergraduate programs within the greater Phoenix and surrounding communities.
  • Understand the University's policies and procedures as they apply to the undergraduate programs.

Qualifications

Education: Doctorate degree required.
Work Experience: Prior teaching and advising experience with adult students.
