STAFF POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position title: Programmer Analyst
Unit and location: University Wide Administration; Ottawa, Kansas
Reports to: IT Manager, Enterprise Applications
Job Summary
Responsible for the ongoing development and enhancement of the web portal and applications, and their integration with enterprise systems. Leverage strong programming abilities and excellent communication skills to improve University processes. Position requires technical versatility and creativity to deliver applications that serve the University community. Contribute ideas, solutions and energy to a high-performing, motivated team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Implement, develop and support the campus web portal and create linkages to the related administrative systems.

Design, create and update web sites and applications to improve functionality, interoperability, and visual appeal.

Provide technical support for the University Internet and intranet web servers, software, and interfaces. Monitor and proactively address configuration and performance issues.

Analyze processes and devise technological solutions for improvement.

Create and maintain end-user documentation. Generate thorough documentation of IT processes and techniques.

Represent the portal team on committees. Discuss, identify, document and develop system requirements.

Design and execute unit, integration and user acceptance testing

Provide reports, data extractions, scripts, status updates, and information for consumption by end users and teammates from enterprise-wide systems.

Provide leadership to those with whom you work through your conduct, attitude, and professionalism. Understand the University's policies and procedures and exercise judgment accordingly.

Represent the Information Technology office and the University to faculty, staff, students, and external vendors in a way that reflects well on the University. Assure that University information is handled in an ethical and confidential manner.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: College degree in a related field required.
Work Experience: 5 years general work; 2 years web related application development experience required.
Required skills and abilities:

Solid technical background in designing, developing and integrating Web technologies/applications using ASP.Net

Proficiency with .Net programming (C#), HTML, Perl, CSS, XML, ODBC, AJAX, web services, IIS and Unix
-
Experience with relational databases, including database design, queries, stored procedures, triggers and functions; MS SQL Server required, Informix a plus.

Experience with ERP, or other large and complex, systems and interaction among multiples systems

Scripting, user interface design and visual layouts skills

Ability to quickly learn and accurately work with a variety of hardware/software systems.

Good understanding of Internet technologies, server hardware/software, networking and security is required, VMWare, ADAM and BigIP are a plus.

Experience in an academic environment is a plus

Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and make sound decisions.
