Raising AwarenessPosted by Paula Paine on February 9, 2011 in "ACE Events", "The College" Two fall ACE events at The College raised student awareness about two important social issues - domestic violence and HIV-AIDS. The first took place on October 18 with an educational presentation on domestic violence, followed on October 28 with a peaceful “Taking Back the Night” march from Ottawa City Hall to the OU campus. The march concluded with a candlelight vigil and time of prayer.
The second event took place on October 21 and featured David Robertson, who contracted HIV-AIDS in 2007 at the age of 16. Robertson uses his disease as an opportunity to educate young people around the country about AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, and to encourage them to get tested.
