“Women in Management” Visit WI GovernorPosted by Paula Paine on February 16, 2011 in MBA, Wisconsin
The former Governor of Wisconsin, Jim Doyle, now knows about Ottawa University thanks to a visit by Carly Rutley’s Women in Management class. Rutley ’00, ’05 MBA WI was able to provide the enriching learning opportunity to her students through contacts she has developed through her work with Milwaukee Women, Inc.
The hands-on trip addressed specific skills being learned in the students’ course, including elevator speeches, networking skills and a further understanding of entrepreneurship.
“Not many have the privilege of being guests of the Governor at his home,” said Rutley, “so this made the trip that much more special!”
A networking outcome of the trip included meeting a gentleman who is part of a southeastern Wisconsin initiative to convene colleges to compete in business and marketing plan composition. Ottawa University is currently exploring how it can join the other schools in that effort.
