Ottawa University was featured in the May edition of the Harvard Family Research Project. The Project highlighted the need for teacher education programs to prepare teachers to better work and interact with families. Ottawa University, Wichita State University and Kansas State University all were included in the study, which researched the various ways each of the universities were preparing their teacher candidates for familyoriented teaching roles. “At Ottawa University, the curriculum enhancement is focused on transforming faculty members into learning communities around family engagement,” the magazine read.“Over the past three years, faculty have engaged in intensive dialogues in pairs or small groups in which they read research together and discuss ways to support family engagement through curriculum.” To read the entire article, visit the Harvard Family Research Project website.
