New Dean of Instruction at Ottawa University - Arizona

Dr. Karen L. Mills has been named the new dean of instruction at Ottawa University-Arizona. Mills has more than 29 years of higher education experience with Maricopa County Community Colleges in Arizona. Her most recent position was as the vice president for academic affairs at Maricopa’s Rio Salado College. While at Rio Salado, Mills oversaw institutional research, faculty services, curriculum development, the library, academic support services, adult literacy services, the eArmy U program, and the college’s educational program at Luke Air Force Base. Mills earned her Doctorate in Education from Nova Southeastern University, where she received the S.V. Martorana Award for Distinguished Research. She received both her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Arizona State University. Mills also has been awarded the Rio Salado College Women’s Leaders Distinguished Achievement Award, the President’s Award from the National Commission on Adult Basic Education, and the Mayor’s Partnership Champion Award from the City of Phoenix.
