New Education Programs in Arizona

As part of Ottawa University’s ongoing mission to provide students with ample opportunities to grow as professionals, OU-Arizona recently launched two new educational programs. The first is a Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in School Guidance Counseling. The program, which is unique in the state of Arizona, allows students to earn their degree by attending class only one long weekend per eight-week term, with the remaining coursework completed online. Taking two courses per semester, students earn their degree in just one year. The other program allows kindergarten teachers in Arizona to earn newly required certification through a unique, accelerated program with convenient schedules. The Arizona Department of Education recently passed a requirement whereby all kindergarten teachers with an elementary education degree must earn their early childhood education endorsement by July 1, 2012, in order to remain in the classroom. Ottawa University’s specially designed program will help local kindergarten teachers maintain their credentials through a one-credit weekend course and a four-credit student teaching experience.
