In Memoriam -Clarence “Neil” Hunt ’39 died October 2, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Maxine (Savage) Hunt. Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Mary Hunt; step-children Sharon Ortloff and Gary Endicott; sister Nina Sims; step-grandchildren, foster children and grandchildren. -The Rev. Neil Concannon ’43 died December 12, 2010, at the age of 94. Survivors include daughter Phyllis Seitz; son David; brother Max; three grandchildren; and six great-grandsons. -Lester C. Arvin ’45 died January 22, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Kay ’43 and sons Scott and Reed Arvin. -Dean B. Shoemaker ’47 died in August 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary. -William V. Dixon Jr. ’48 died October 26, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Rudd) ’48; daughter Jane Ellen Scarffe ’74; sons Wade Masterson and Chris Rudd; sisters Elizabeth Waln ’46 and Martha Jean Dixon ’50; brothers J. Thomas ’50 and James; and many grandchildren. -Myrna Shepherd Van Horn ’50 died September 23, 2011. -Warren L. Olson ’52 died January 24, 2012, at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, and his wife, Alice. He is survived by three daughters, Karen, Penny and Abby; a son Eric; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren. -Erma (Bolan) Sorensen ’52 died January 31, 2012, at the age of 81. She is survived by her husband, Glenn; children John Bolan, Jonna Louise Bolan and William Thomas Bolan; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister Norma Cortner. -The Rev. William J. Woodruff ’54 died October 2, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Shuck) Woodruff; children Teresa O’Halloran, Bruce Woodruff, and Neal Woodruff; two grandchildren; brother-in-law Max Chuck; and many nieces and nephews. -LaVerne Barnes ’59 died February 13, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Kay; daughter Kimberly Barnes; step-daughter Kim Lyons; step-sons Kevin and Curt Wiebe; brother Robert K. Barnes; sister Elaine Ward; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. -Mary Deutsch ’62 has passed away. -Betty (Trout) Brown ’64 passed away on January 10, 2012, in Lafayette, CA. She is survived by her husband, Raymond, ’64; daughter Kirsta (Brown) Geiger; son Kyle; and grandsons Miller and Jay Brown. -Darrel J. Bourque ’69 died February 22, 2012. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; mother Doris; daughters Danielle Cagle and Kristian Olsen; son Robert; brother Dennis; step-sister Debra; five grandchildren; and father and mother-in-law, Jack and Martha Christian. -Dorcas (Lambertson) Jackson ’70 died November 24, 2011. She is survived by her husband, Joe; sons Mathew and J.R.; daughter Hester Gonzales; three grandchildren; sister Lois Waln ’73; brother John Mark Lambertson ’78; her church family and many other treasured friends. -Stephanie Kay (Johnson) Bell ’76 died in January 2010. She is survived by her husband, Greg Bell ’75, son Gordon and daughter Janelle. -Jay Bacon ’90 died March 30, 2012, at the age of 43. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” (Rippetoe) Bacon; sons Jacob P. Hartman and Tristian S. Hodges; daughter Trinity N. Rippetoe; mother Mary A. Bacon; brother Robert Bacon; sister Sarah (Bacon) Travino; niece Riley Bacon; nephew Nicholas Bacon; mother-in-law Lee Haynes; and father-in-law Larry Tucker. -Ted William Smith ’00 AZ passed away January 31, 2012. He was preceded in death by parents James A. and Lorene Smith and younger brothers Wayne and Donald Smith. He is survived by daughters Bridget Jagneaux and Audra Coppernoll; sister Sandra Thompson; brothers Thomas, Gerald and Carl; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. -Stephen E. Swope ’00 KC died February 14, 2011. Updates 50s Mason L. Brown ’52 will celebrate the 60th anniversary of his ordination to the ministry on August 29 at Calvary Baptist Church in Denver, CO. The Rev. Alex Wilkie ’52 will complete 51 years of religious radio in St. George, Utah, in November 2012. It is the longest local program in St. George. 60s Carol (Cain) Bunning ’66 was inducted into the Kansas Teacher’s Hall of Fame on June 2, 2012, in Dodge City, KS. She teaches in Horton, KS. Charley Farley ’67 recently had his first novel, “Secrets of San Blas,” published. His first book was a biography of blues great Bobby “Blue” Bland and was published in 2010. Russell O. Swearingen ’67 and his wife Dorothy Goodwin Swearingen ’64 are welcoming greetings from OU friends. Russell was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in 2009. The progression of the disease has been steady and he has no use of his legs or left arm and hand. The Great Loop is a 6,000 mile circumnavigation around the eastern half of the US and Canada. 70s The Rev. Elizabeth “Besty” Ritzman ’75 has been named the Director of Student Health and Wellness at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois. 80s Jeff Hull ’88 was promoted to Managing Partner of Highlander Partners private equity group. As Managing Partner, he will oversee and provide strategic direction for the company’s investment efforts. 00s Nancy Tooley ’02 was the only female basketball official in the state of Kansas to work at a Kansas State Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Championship site in during the 2011-12 basketball season. She worked 3A held at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, KS. Diana (Dougherty) Mora ’05 KC has been invited to join the highly selective Teach for America teaching corps. Mora will focus on the needs of students in special education while working on a Master’s in Special Education. Raul Tucker ’07 and his wife participated in their first ever Ironman Triathalon on May 19, 2011 in Houston, Texas.
