OU Boasts NAIA Scholar Teams

Ottawa University Braves athletic teams experienced an award-winning year. All in all, there were six Capital One award winners, 31 Daktronic Scholar Athletes, eight NAIA All-Americans, 22 KCAC Players of the Week and 81 All-KCAC performers during the 2011-2012 school year. Among the most notable awards were the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Capital One honors. “It was great to see our teams and studentathletes excel on the field and in the classroom as there were many memorable highlights,” says Athletic Director Arabie Conner. CoSIDA began the Capital One program in the 1950s and has since honored thousands of student-athletes. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. OU Boasts 10 NAIA Scholar Teams
Ten Braves athletic teams achieved Scholar Team status during the 2011-12 academic year, the most by a KCAC institution. For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar Team award, it must have a minimum of 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all varsity student-athletes certified as eligible.
