As part of Homecoming 2012, an Averyt’s Alley Booth was set up to allow alumni to reflect on their time with Dr. Ronnie Averyt, longtime faculty member. In addition, many alumni, students and staff took part in a “Walk for Doc” event, which was designed to raise money for the $1 million Averyt Reading Room to be located in the new Gangwish Library. A portrait of Dr. Roger ’42 and Ruth ’45 Fredrikson was unveiled during the annual Alumni Awards Banquet, which honored Dr. Murle Mordy, Stephen Tybor III ’84, and Dr. James Gwartney ’62. The portrait was painted by John Boyd Martin and will be hung inside the Fredrikson Chapel lobby.
Also during the Alumni Awards Banquet, members of the Alumni Choir sang three songs led by Dr. Stanley DeFries ‘50 and accompanied by Nancy Bosche ’70.
In addition to these events, Homecoming 2012 offered a variety of other activities, including a Youth Spirit Clinic led by Ottawa University spirit squad members and the annual Homecoming Coronation, which took place before kickoffof the football game vs. Bethany College.
