Ottawa University-Wisconsin is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with SCORE of Southeast Wisconsin which allows the organization to utilize the University’s Brookfield meeting space while permitting OU faculty, staff and students to take advantage of SCORE’s business training workshops free of charge.
To celebrate the agreement, an Open House has been scheduled for February 27, 2014, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on the Brookfield campus, 245 S. Executive Drive, Suite 110. The event will feature a short presentation by SE Wisconsin SCORE Chairman David Maaske, OU-Wisconsin Campus Executive Dr. Wade Mauland and community guests, followed by a reception.

“Our new partnership with Ottawa University will become part of a solid foundation for SCORE SE Wisconsin to help us accomplish our mission of providing guidance, mentoring, and information that have real value to entrepreneurs and small business owners to assist them in creating, maintaining and growing successful businesses and jobs,” says Maaske. “Ottawa’s leadership and facilities provide an excellent platform for our business training programs and will allow SCORE mentors to provide real value to Ottawa students, staff and entrepreneurs at the campus facilities.”
SCORE is a national non-profit association dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals through education and mentorship. SCORE is supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and boasts a network of 11,000+ business experts who provide mentoring and real-world expertise to its clients. SCORE has 343 chapters nationwide and offers its complimentary and low cost services in 800 locations. Since the organization’s founding in 1964, SCORE has mentored over nine million clients.
In 2012, SCORE helped clients start 37,000 new businesses and create 82,200 new jobs. For every dollar invested in SCORE, $59 was returned to the U.S. Treasury. The SE Wisconsin Chapter, which encompasses 10 counties, conducted 2,600 mentoring sessions, provided 74 workshop sessions, and facilitated 149 new business starts and the creation of 193 new jobs in 2012.
Ottawa University is now listed as an official sponsor on SCORE’s website and in its materials. SCORE will seek mentors for its clients from among OU’s adjunct faculty, and SCORE members will be considered as guest speakers in OU classes.
