"Cinderella" Captivates CommunityPosted by Paula Paine on March 18, 2014 in Ottawa University Theatre presented Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” to sold-out crowds on October 31, and November 1, 2 and 3 in the Larry D. Peters Auditorium.
The musical was full of enchantment and fun for young and old and included a large cast of students, community members and children.
Director Julie Noonan said, “‘Cinderella’ was a wonderful challenge for our cast. Rogers and Hammerstein are musical masters, and it was so exciting for our cast to learn from them. I was also excited to have community members and students working together on this production to keep theatre vibrant in Ottawa.”
In addition to the performances, little princes and princesses from the community were allowed to come in costume for Pumpkins and Princesses Night. And on November 3, the Theatre Department hosted a sold-out Princess Tea with Cinderella and court. For each performance, attendees were encouraged to bring a pair of “slippers,” or shoes, to donate to those in need. The shoe drive was sponsored by the OU Drama Club.
