In the true Ottawa Spirit, OU-KC took the opportunity during the 40th event to look beyond itself and celebrate others by holding a scholarship contest, which resulted in the award of three Gold and 11 Silver Scholarships. Gold-level winners received 40 percent off the cost of tuition for the completion of their degree, while Silver-level winners received $40 per credit hour off of the cost of their tuition. Four of the award winners were in attendance (pictured, left to right) – Katie LaBrie (Gold), Teri Vaughn (Silver), Louis Monroe (Gold), and Tracy Dyer (Silver) - and were presented their awards during the event.

Two prizes – an iPad mini and a flat screen TV – were also auctioned off during the evening and $650 was raised to help one of OU-KC’s long-time partners, Rose Brooks Center, whose mission is to break the cycle of domestic violence so that individuals and families can live free of abuse. The funds raised will help the Center provide needed food, clothing, and other basic living supplies.
