Arabie Conner was named the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Athletic Director of the Year for 2015-16. Conner was formally recognized at the KCAC Sport Management Conference on August 2.
"The transformational efforts under Arabie's leadership in athletics have benefited us in major ways," said Kevin Eichner, Ottawa University President. "The institution's financial picture and reputation have been greatly enhanced, and most importantly, our student-athlete personal satisfaction and success rates as demonstrated in retention and graduation have been significantly improved."
Conner is in her 11th year at the helm of Ottawa University's athletic department. The previous 10 years have brought many accomplishments for the Braves including 281 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes, 62 NAIA All-Americans, 192 KCAC Players of the Week, 670 All-KCAC selections, 10 teams have earned regular season KCAC Championships, and seven have won KCAC Tournament Championships.
"Arabie is very deserving of this award," said Dr. Scott Crawford, KCAC Commissioner. "We all are so appreciative of her many contributions to the conference and her selfless service in leading the athletics department at Ottawa University."
The OU athletic teams have excelled in the classroom as well. Under her leadership, 77 teams were named NAIA Scholar Teams and the athletic department has been named a Five Star Champions of Character Institution nine times.
