Academic Scholarships & Academic Assistance Grants
ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS (minimum requirements of GPA, class rank, and ACT based on best performance as verified by high school or transfer transcript)
Presidential Scholarship (first year freshmen only)
Full Tuition per academic year
Competitive scholarship awarded to a maximum of FIVE students who seek to be agents of change in their college careers and beyond. Students are invited to compete; must be accepted to Ottawa University prior to January 31. The competition is held in February.
Minimum criteria for invitation:
- 3.5 cumulative high school GPA
- 25 composite ACT (or equivalent)
- Upper 1/3 of high school class
- Competition includes a review of student's academic, co-curricular, volunteer and employment history, an interview with faculty and a written essay
- Cumulative OU GPA of 3.25 required to keep the scholarship. Student must live on-campus until eligible to live off-campus.
Valedictorian Scholarship ( freshmen only)
$15,000 per academic year
- Awarded to any matriculating high school Valedictorian from a graduating class of 10 or more.
- Cumulative OU GPA of 3.25 required to keep the scholarship. Student must live on-campus until eligible to live off-campus.
Provost Scholarship ( freshmen only)
$11,000 per academic year
- Minimum 3.5 cumulative high school GPA
- Upper 10% of high school class
- Cumulative OU GPA of 3.0 required to keep the scholarship. Student must live on-campus until eligible to live off-campus.
Phi Theta Kappa (transfer students only)
$11,000 per academic year
- Member of PTK Chapter at the community college from which student matriculates
- Cumulative OU GPA of 3.0 required to keep the scholarship. Student must live on-campus until eligible to live off-campus.
Legacy Scholarship (freshmen only)
$9,000 per academic year
- Minimum 3.8 cumulative high school GPA
- Qualified to compete for Presidential Scholarship (student may have missed the Presidential Scholarship application deadline, or does not qualify for the Provost or Valedictorian Scholarship)
- Cumulative OU GPA of 3.0 required to keep the scholarship. Student must live on-campus until eligible to live off-campus.
Tauy Jones Scholarship (freshmen or transfer students)
$6,000 per academic year
- Minimum 3.5 cumulative high school or transfer GPA
- Cumulative OU GPA of 2.8 required to keep the scholarship. Student must live on-campus until eligible to live off-campus.
Black Gold Scholarship (freshmen or transfer students)
$4,000 per academic year
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative high school or transfer GPA
- Cumulative OU GPA of 2.8 required to keep the scholarship. Student must live on-campus until eligible to live off-campus.
ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE GRANTS
Foundation Grant (freshmen or transfer students)
$3,000 per academic year
- Minimum 2.5 cumulative high school or transfer GPA
- Cumulative OU GPA of 2.0 required to keep the scholarship. Student must live on-campus until eligible to live off-campus.
Heritage Grant (transfer students only)
$2,000 per academic year
- Minimum 2.0 cumulative high school or transfer GPA
- Cumulative OU GPA of 2.0 required to keep the scholarship. Student must live on-campus until eligible to live off-campus.
