What Do You Do in the Meantime?

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youth grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They shall soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:29-31

Well, here we are again, almost Christmas and we are waiting. But what do you do when you are tired, lonely and thinking, “Been there, done that, got the T-shirt to prove it, now what? Is it going to be the same thing again? Just going through the motions?”

I want to ask you what or who are you waiting for? Sometimes we forget that this is the birthday celebration of Jesus Christ, our Lord and savior. This is not my birthday nor your birthday so why do we get all the presents and Jesus gets nothing? We even have the audacity to become indignant if we don’t get the gifts we expect and say, “You ruined my Christmas.”

But I have a solution to the problem. One that every believer can afford and one that works. In fact, I can guarantee it will work. I tried it for myself. It is prayer. The Bible puts much emphasis on prayer; James 5: 16 says, “fail not to pray one for another for the fervent earnest prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

This displays the power of prayer. So, as you are sitting and wondering what you can do differently this year, pray about everything and for everybody. And just watch as God changes things for you. There is an old song that says, “Man should always pray and never faint but let the Lord have His way, I know prayer will change things for you.”

This is one thing we can do as we wait for Christmas.

Prayer

Loving God, we come saying thank you for hearing and answering our prayer. We thank you that we are never alone because you have told us you will NEVER leave us or forsake us. To help us remember this, one of your names is Emmanuel, “God with us,” and we are eternally grateful.  Therefore, we come casting ALL our cares on you because you care for us. We are going to trust you to assist us in working things out. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
