Up through the Trees

Up through the Trees

“Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.” Psalm 96:10-12

The trees stand tall. If your Christmas tree is up already, hopefully it stands tall and straight. When challenges creep up, the holiday tree offers the example of weathering the cold, the storms, the changes and remaining joyful.

As a practice for keeping our focus on the Heavenly ways, take a walk and pause under each tree you encounter. Get close enough that when you look up you can see the designs of the branches, creating a lattice of thick and thin, old and young, crooked and straight.  Through it all, the sky above shines.

Our worlds here on earth are meant to lead us to that heavenly kingdom. Let not the things of earth hold us back or trip us.  Instead look up, take in the beauty and keep ever on with that focus to guide.
