Born and raised in a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Amber's college studies led her to move to Lawrence, Kansas to attend the University of Kansas, where she studied euphonium with Scott Watson and trombone with Dr. Michael Davidson. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in music education she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, to pursue a master's degree in trombone performance with Dr. Scott Anderson. Kaul was a member of the 2014 All American College Band at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, bass trombonist for the Eutiner Festspiele in Eutin, Germany, for three seasons, and has subbed with the Omaha Symphony, Kansas City Civic Orchestra, Jim Lower Big Band, New World Order Big Band, and Boulevard Big Band. Currently she teaches elementary music full-time, teaches lessons, and performs in her spare time. 

Her professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education and the Kansas Music Educators Association.
