Instructor Heather Brown is originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin. She attended St. Norbert College and completed her undergraduate degree in Education. In 1999, she moved to Phoenix, AZ and worked 15 years as a middle school and high school English teacher. As an English teacher, she worked with a diverse population of students – ELL, Gifted, and Special Education students. She started the Writer’s Club and worked on this program in conjunction with the community colleges.
In 2004, she obtained a MA in Educational Counseling from the University of Phoenix and in 2009, she obtained a MA in Curriculum and Instruction. She is a qualified Reading Specialist and is ELL certified. In 2012, Instructor Brown decided to use her MA in Educational Counseling and served as a high school guidance counselor. She continues to serve as a high school guidance counselor but her passion for teaching continues. She coaches the freshmen girls’ basketball team at her high school and she teaches at multiple community colleges throughout the state. She has over 10 years of experience teaching English and Counseling as adjunct faculty. She has recently pursued another MA in Professional Writing: English. Upon completion of this degree, she began working with Ottawa University as an English instructor. In her free time, she loves traveling and spending time with her family.
