Rick grew up in Ventura, California where he majored in Criminal Justice and played football at Ventura College. He spent 13 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer and a Parole Officer. He served 3 years in the prison as a tactical operator while supervising inmate workers in construction projects. After several years as an officer, Rick began a degree in education in order to instruct college students. Three years later, he decided to concentrate solely on educating future law enforcement officers and retired early. Rick is in his first year with Ottawa University. He also instructs at local community colleges in the Phoenix area and teaches a high school law and public safety program. Rick has written a college textbook on Corrections, which is in final layout for publication. When not assisting and educating students, Rick likes watching football and riding his Harley Davidson.
