Jo Anne Gibson-Lucas’ background is in organizational communication and human relations training. She has a master’s degree in Communication Studies from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Central Missouri. Gibson-Lucas worked at Baker University in the Department of Communication for 14 years, teaching organizational communication, public speaking, and intercultural communication classes. Prior to that, she was a staff development specialist for the State of Kansas, conducting supervisory training and employee development programs. Gibson-Lucas has been a member of Toastmasters International, an organization dedicated to mastering public speaking skills and various volunteer organizations such as Lawrence Habitat for Humanity and the Coalition for the Homeless.
