Largest Class Gift Honors Jan Lee

“I am pleased to report to you tonight that we have surpassed our [class gift] target goal of $100,000,” said Steve Argubright, Class of ’64 representative. “Recalling the need for funding for the new Gangwish Library and Gibson Student Center, we voted that that is where our gift should go. We also voted to provide a portion of our gift for a naming room in the library/student center to honor our own Jan Sidebottom Lee. As Ottawa University embarks on its 150th year, it is my pleasure to donate a 1964 Class gift of $162,000.”
The library/student center is on target for completion next summer, with a grand opening set during OU’s Sesquicentennial Celebration at Homecoming 2015. Jan Lee will continue to serve as the new library’s Associate Library Director, continuing her legacy as the longest serving faculty and staff member in OU history, with 46+ years of service.

During the event, the class of 1954 also made a $25,000 donation to the new facilities. The check was presented by former OU President and 1954 class representative Dr. Wilbur Wheaton.
