Braves Have Strong Showing at 2017 KCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships

Posted by Janae Melvin on April 4, 2017 in The OU men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams competed at the 2017 KCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, February 3 and Saturday, February 4. The women finished seventh and the men placed eighth at the meet. Bryanna Music brought home the Braves only KCAC Championship. She finished first in the weight throw with a throw of 16.68m. Music also placed second in the shot put (13.85m).

CJ Whitaker finished seventh in the 60M Hurdles with a time of 9.61 to earn All-KCAC honors. Chisholm Branscum earned All-KCAC honors in the 800M and mile run, finishing fourth in both events. Isaiah Messic placed fifth in the 800M also earning All-KCAC honors in that event. He ran a time of 2:05.51.

Jas’quan Alexander-Riley earned All-KCAC honors in three events with his fifth place finish in the long jump (6.32m), sixth place finish in the triple jump (13.18m) and his eighth place finish in the high jump (1.81m). Elayna King finished seventh in the pole vault to earn All-KCAC honors (2.82m).

 Michael Jensen finished second in the shot put (14.46m) and Tyler Hooks placed sixth (13.56). All three, Music, Jensen, and Hooks, earned All-KCAC honors in the shot put. Hooks finished sixth (13.90m) and Jensen placed seventh (13.61m) in the weight throw to both take home All-KCAC honors.
