Day 9 - February 23, 2018

Showing Through Us

Ephesians 4:31-32
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:31-32

Pain can consumer your life if you let it. Why as humans do we let Satan win? It is because we are human and we all make mistakes! Nevertheless, why should we live in a life of pain? Do you think God wants that for us? No! He wants us to live, inspire, and create goodness around the world. Bitterness causes us to become more individualistic. Jesus did not change the world by himself, and neither can we. Rage and anger fills hearts with suffering. With these traits, we see passion. Passion should be fueling other followers into lives of vocation. How can you funnel your negative traits to help the people around you?

Slander causes us to cast agony to innocent people. But our words have other gifts! We use them to share God’s love and compassion, to help us guide one another. If we are kind and compassionate to one another and forgive one another, we will start to walk closer to God. He has taught us how to live; we just have not been paying attention.

See as humans, we have our agenda. People have different values then the ones that have been taught to us. God allows us to choose what we see as important. That is the beautiful thing about life; it is never unchanging, never static. As humans we forgive each other, we teach one another, and we help tackle difficult scenarios. Mistakes are made. This is why there is forgiveness. God has taught us all the rules; are we ready to finally ready to put them in action? Take today to evaluate your life and see what God is trying to teach you to do. Let us pray together.

Lord, open our hearts to your rules. Let us start to read more about your examples and stories. Help us find the meaning in the stories that you have passed down to us. Show us how to forget about past issues and dive into future solutions. Help us understand that your love does not have to be earned, but showed instead through us. Let us be beacons of your good news to the people that are around us. We ask all of this in your son’s Holy name, Amen.
