Instructor Diane Hobson, Ed. D, was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and moved to Athens, OH to complete her BS degree in Secondary Education (English, Speech, Journalism, Reading) and her MA in Educational Technology. For her doctorate work, she opted for a combined online and face-to-face format and earned an Ed.D. in Instructional Technology and Distance Education. Her dissertation work focused on learning styles and learning preferences of low socioeconomic students in a technology setting. She continues to be interested in research that deals with determining factors that improve online education, instructional design that compliments the learning styles of online students, and the globalization of education due to virtual learning. She has several articles published in Distance Learning magazine regarding quality in online instruction. She has been involved in education since 1992 and has taught English and reading to middle school students, reading and math to gifted students, educational technology courses, and serves as the director of curriculum and testing for a local school district.  She has also worked as an adjunct instructor for Ottawa University since 2009 teaching courses for the Master of Arts in Education program.
