Kasey Johnson holds a doctoral degree in Ethical Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University and has over 15 years of experience in education. She has taught music, Language Arts, and Social Studies at the Elementary, Middle, and High School levels. Her research has centered around the history of language within the United States, the process of second language acquisition, and the role education plays in helping English Language Learners (ELLs) assimilate to the curriculum and culture at school
As a master educator, she has participated in building leadership teams, mentoring other teachers, and team lead for ELL and music. She brings her experience to Ottawa University as the subject matter expert for TESOL and professor in charge for the developing TESOL program.
Kasey lives in Overland Park, KS with her husband, three boys, and two dogs. Throughout the week, she teaches full-time at Indian Trail Middle School as the ELL ELA and Newcomers teacher and ELL Team Lead. When she isn’t in the classroom, Kasey and her dog, Everett, serve with Pets for Life and Children’s Mercy Hospital as a therapy dog team. Everett also comes to school with Kasey to help students dealing with trauma and encourage students to read out loud.
