Joe Calendo is a native of Illinois. He received his B.A. in Human Services from Judson University in 1998, his teaching certification from Trinity International University in 2003, and his Master’s degree in Counseling from National Louis University in 2006. He’s has thirteen years of experience as a school counselor. Previously, Mr. Calendo has been a crisis counselor, mentor, Director of Guidance, coach, and P.E. teacher. In 2014, he was awarded Educator of the Year for the Macon County school district in Illinois. Mr. Calendo and his family have lived in Arizona for four years. Previously, he lived in Central Illinois for eight years, but he grew up in Chicagoland. He is a die-hard Chicago sports fan! He loves the Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, and Cubs. He and his wife, Tanya, enjoy their time with their three sons, Joe (14), Josh (12), and Jake (9). Mr. Calendo has enjoyed coaching his sons’ baseball and basketball teams in the past. He was an assistant coach for the Champaign Tribe 10U and 11U travel team for two years before taking over as the head coach of the Champaign Tribe 9U travel team in 2014. He has experience as an assistant coach in cross-country and football at Warrensburg –Latham High School and was as an assistant baseball coach at Gilbert Christian High School.
