Scheufler earned letters in football (1963-66), men’s basketball (1965-67), and track (1964-66).

On the gridiron, Scheufler helped lead the Braves to a record of 34-3 and three KCAC Championships. He was part of the 1965 team that finished 9-0 and had a final ranking of fifth in the NAIA Football Poll.

Scheufler was a two-time NAIA Football All-American, earning First Team honors in 1966 and Second Team honors in 1965. He earned First Team District 10 honors in 1965 and in 1966. Scheufler was a three time First Team All-KCAC selection at receiver for the Braves. In his four years, Scheufler put his name in the OU record book. He is ranked sixth in career receptions (132), eighth in single season receiving yards (1,074 in 1965), second in career receiving yards (2,548), and is tied for third in single game touchdown receptions (3 vs. Sterling in 1965).

On the basketball court, Scheufler helped the Braves to a two year record of 25-20 under head coach Bill Frear. He was part of the 1966-67 KCAC Co-Championship team.

Scheufler was part of the 1964 KCAC Track and Field Championship Team. He earned All-KCAC honors four times in 1964 in the 100 Yard Dash and the 220 Yard Dash. Scheufler was part of the KCAC Championship 4x220 Yard Relay team and the 4x400 Yard Relay teams. During the 1965 season, Scheufler earned All-KCAC honors in the broad jump, the 110 Yard High Hurdles, the 330 Yard IM Hurdles, and he was an All-KCAC selection as part of the 4x440 Yard Relay team. Scheufler again was an All-KCAC selection in 1966, earning the honor in the 330 Yard IM Hurdles, the 110 Yard High Hurdles, as part of the first 4x100 Yard Relay team, in the broad jump, and as part of the 4x440 Yard Relay Team.

After graduating from Ottawa University, Scheufler went on to work at BNSF Railroad as an engineer. His daughter Kristin Scheufler Mallory is also a member of the Braves Athletic Hall of Fame.
